Cabin Sitting!

View's of Albert's Cabin
I will be relaxing off the grid in the Helena National Forest the next few weekends. Our friend Albert has asked Michele and I if we would cabin sit while he visits friends in the mid west.
I really, really enjoy the time I spend at Albert's place. Albert, he is a wonderful man that has had a interested life and it is great to hear the stories. I think a movie about him would be cool. Albert, Michele, & I share a lot of the same interests and views so we get along well.
We decided to go up to his place last weekend to get a little training on how things run out in the woods. Albert uses batteries and a generator for his electricity, so he gave us a run down on the generator and the inverter in case the batteries go dead. There is also a spring nearby that supplies Albert's water and he gave us a quick course on the water pump and the filtration system so we have safe drinking water. Albert also has propane that fuels the stove, refrigerator, hot water heater, and a small heater in the living room. In the "Sun" room Albert has a wood burning stove that is the primary source of heat for the cabin, so Michele and I will be cutting and splitting wood to keep the wood pile stocked. There is no Cell service, and Albert is taking his wireless Internet with with so we will only have satellite TV, but we probably won't have it on.
Michele will going up Friday nights after work because she has the weekends off and she lives in Helena which is about an hour from the cabin. I will be heading there late Saturday afternoons due to the fact that I work Saturdays and live in Great Falls which is about an hour and a half from Helena and two and a half hours from Albert's.
This past weekend after the training course we decided to hit the woods and do some sightseeing around the Helena National Forest. Albert knows the area well and wanted to show us and a friend of his some of the old mining artifacts in the area. The "Two Tracks" along the continental divide are more like "JEEP" trails than roads. Good thing Albert and his friend have Jeeps. I also have a Jeep but left it at Albert's. We had a lot of fun being bounced around in the Jeeps and seeing old mining cabins and mine tailing's. We did managed to get Albert's Jeep stuck in about knee deep mud and had to have Albert's friend pull Albert out with his Jeep. That was fun.
I am hoping to have more to write in the coming weeks about the weekends at the cabin.
